Allo, BBers!

To give our 2025 Pros BB artists a heads-up on the way they'll be claiming their stories, here's an outline of the way we'll be proceeding with the art claims.

The artist claiming post will go up on Wednesday, 16th July at 00:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT).That's:

0700 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
0800 British Summer Time (BST) for the UK cousins and
0900 Central European Summer Time (CEST) for the European cousins.

If you're not in any of those time zones, you can use the Time Zone Converter – Time Difference Calculator (Classic) to determine the time in your location.

The claiming post will contain all the story summaries, under a cut, and without the writers' names. The post will be screened, so your friendly mods will be the only ones to see all comments. Artists should comment to the post, and include their first, second, third, and fourth choices for story claims. Artists should also let us know whether they are willing to provide art for a second story, in case any of our artists has to drop out unexpectedly.

The mods will do a first pass through the list, starting with the first comment, and assign each artist their first story. If your first choice has already been chosen, you will be assigned your second pick. We chose this method to ensure that:

*every artist has a decent chance of getting their first or second choice, and…

*artists who claim early will get their story assigned early, so they can get to work on art as quickly as possible.

Please note that once you have claimed a story, you'll be getting the rough draft of that story, so you don't have to work just from the summary. Let us know if you have any questions, either in the comments here or by emailing the mods at prosbigbangtwo@gmail.com. And huge thanks once again to our artists for volunteering their time and talent! :-)

It seems the last challenge was more difficult than I thought. We had only three participants, and have only two winners. Congratulations, you did a good job.

To the writers signed up for the 2025 Box of Tricks Big Bang, your story summaries are required today!

Hopefully, you’ve reached a minimum word count of 6,600 words. We're not going to be totally tyrannical about this. If you're only at 4,000 words, but are well on the way to finishing, that works for us. But if you're only at 1,000 words, we have a problem. Talk to us and let us know how you’re getting on. We don’t bite...(hard), but we NEED to hear from you. We have eager, talented artists awaiting your summaries and it’s only fair to them that we have something enticing to present.

Any remaining writers we DON’T hear from, will be emailed within the next 48 hours to ask if they still wish to participate.

The Live Journal CI5 Box of Tricks Big Bang challenge has become a thing of legend, set up by, maintained by and supported by, completely legendary people, so we need your summaries and we need them ASAP.

Please get emailing people and if you need any assistance, we're at prosbigbangtwo@gmail.com

Another Friday, another challenge. I'm not sure if it's easy or not, but we'll see next Wednesday how many of you found it easy.

Sorry for the blurry image, I didn't have a clearer version.

All comments will be automatically screened until next Wednesday. Only mods of this group have to screen their comments, because the general screening doesn't work for mods.

Enjoy.

Rough draft deadline approaching or summaries needed however you want to look at it.

Hopefully you all are past the 6000 word mark. If you are in trouble then contact us and we can help.

Hiya, I'm asking in the comm because I might not be the only person with this query.

If you have a work in a previous year's BB collection on AO3 and you write a sequel to that work, what is the protocol about tagging it to the collection?

For instance, would a sequel only be tagged to a particular year's BB collection if the sequel was submitted as a BB fic in its own right? (Presumably in a subsequent year and therefore a subsequent year's BB collection.)

So, for example, would you, under your own pseud on AO3, have a series which consisted of a BB collection-tagged work, followed up by a sequel that was not submitted to the BB and therefore not tagged as part of any year's BB collection?

Here it is. . . what you have been waiting for . . .How to submit your rough draft and summary

Here is the information on how to turn in your Pros Big Bang story draft and summary. Those of you who have participated in previous years will find that the submission information is entirely unchanged, but here it is again.

Please create two separate files. One file should contain your rough draft and the other your summary. We ask that you use the following naming convention:

prosbigbang_roughdraft_yourname.doc

prosbigbang_summary_yourname.doc

So if I were submitting, my files would be named prosbigbang_roughdraft_merentha13.doc and prosbigbang_summary_merentha13.doc.

File format: As suggested by the naming template, we would prefer to receive your files in Microsoft Word .doc format (NOT .docx, which is what newer Word versions produce by default; Word will still save .doc files, though). If .doc is not possible for you, we also accept .rtf (Rich Text Format) and .txt (plaintext).

Send your two files to the Pros Big Bang email address: prosbigbangtwo@gmail.com

The deadline: Midnight, July 1, PDT

(Pacific Daylight Time is GMT-7 hours.)

If you need to familiarize yourself with the draft/summary requirements, you can find them in previos post.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at the above email address, or you can PM any one of the mods.

Once we have all your files, we will be removing identifying information and posting summaries for artist claims on July 9.

Good luck, writers! :)

Quotes & Credits

Art by James C. Christensen

A Place Of Her Own. James C. Christensen (American, born 1942).

“I wanted to create a retreat,” says Christensen, “a secluded little nook filled with art and books where a woman could really get away from it all. Here, the tension melts away as lilting strains of lute music drift across the overstuffed cushions. The objects in the room represent the things that I believe are important to a full and satisfying life…”

"There's no such thing as an ordinary human." - The Tenth Doctor

“Life is like a camera. Focus on what's important. Capture the good times. And if things don't work out, just take another shot.”
― Ziad K. Abdelnour

"Life is a great big canvas, throw all the paint you can on it." - Danny Kaye

“Don't forget - no one else sees the world the way you do, so no one else can tell the stories that you have to tell.”
― Charles de Lint, The Blue Girl

"We are all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"
-Quote by The Eleventh Doctor.
